  • Rocky Hill 411: Where Am I?

If you are brand new to a town, chances are that you really have no idea what is around, where to go for coffee, where different highway entrances are, or where to even get a decent slice of pizza. You can search through yellowpages.com (or the actual yellow pages if you can find one), ask neighbors if you've had the chance to actually MEET them, but that's really it. There is a big hunt involved with actually finding out these trivial but vital pieces of information. Having a website that ga...

A site like Rocky Hill 411 is not only for those new to the area, but allows people to voice their opinions in a public forum. You may have been served an omelet fresh with a bug inside at a local breakfast nook, but the only people that will really hear of the sanitation issues will be your immediate circle. On the other hand, you may go to the new Italian restaurant that opened up down the street and be wowed by their authentic dishes and want to really be active in your community and share wh...

LinkedIn has become THE professional social networking site. In my opinion it serves as a pared down resume and allows connections and people who may stumble upon you to see what you are all about. Unlike other social networking sites, it doesn't really give a large focus on the person, but their professional achievements. It would be hard to understand the person behind their profile. Being that it is sometimes hard to keep many social networking separate from personal life, it may be wise ...

It's safe to say that many of today's widely used websites are still mainly from the 'giants' of the web. Yahoo!, AOL and MSN carry quite a bit of content and rule the masses in internet consumption. With the exception of Google which carries its simple design (which also has its place), one of the main reasons we keep going back to the juggernauts, is because we know not only will they have all the content we need, but it will be pretty. I am guilty of this myself, but the appearance of ...
  • Bio Sketch Take 2

As per the assignment for my writing class, I am going to re-work my own "bio sketch" in a different way and in different size. Hopefully it will come out clean and not too boring or self-indulgent. My main bio, the 'Whois' article was much more of a relaxed personal style bio, so as suggested I am going to give a more corporate feel to it instead. Bio Sketch Take 2: Brendan Grimaldi is a Connecticut native, considered a boomerang young professional, spending 10 years in the New York ar...
  • How Do I Write About Myself?

I was blessed with the gift of gab since I was born. In person and on paper (or screen), I don't have much of a stop mechanism to my blabber. Not much can make me speechless, until it comes to myself. I find it really hard to write about myself unless it's a story or about some type of event. Writing any type of self-biography (bio sketch) is one of the most difficult things in my opinion to write objectively with out sounding like you are a little too self indulgent or full of yourself. Impress...

I have spent about 10 years of my life living in upstate New York during my undergraduate studies and in NYC post graduation working in the media and music industry. The rest of my life was spent in a small town in Connecticut. When I made my decision to move back to the area I grew up in, in fact the same town, many people from the New York and Connecticut area questioned why I would leave such a fun place for somewhere that would be "so boring." I felt different. I had a large group of ...

I am a person who likes to change my house feel all the time. Recently I updated my living room with all new furniture which meant with that change, everything on the walls had to follow suit. I spent quite a bit of time online searching for the perfect wall art. One thing I learned is that if you want to frame a 6 dollar poster, you are going to dish out over 100 bucks. WHAT...a rip off. During my search I came upon the "Keep Calm and Carry On" poster. I am not someone who lets stress slide ...
